Pinocchio, the Paper Puppet

Pinocchio is Tuscan, as everyone knows. Carlo Collodi was from Florence – or almost: Collodi, the village that gave him his name, is just a step away from our region. And Florence, the city of the most lying and most beloved puppet in Italy, inevitably brought us to him.

From Geppetto’s wood was born our family of Pinocchios, though in papier-mâché: a tribute to a character who is now an Italian symbol, like the David, like the Ponte Vecchio, like the Commedia dell’Arte.

A family of Pinocchios

In our catalogue Pinocchio appears in many versions: the three-dimensional figurine, the wearable mask, the decorative plate, and the face for the wall. Some versions are embellished with gold leaf, because a puppet who becomes a boy deserves a little light.

Every Pinocchio is modelled and painted by hand in our workshop. And like Collodi’s puppet, ours too are born from a piece of raw material and a great deal of patience: the same patience that, if you follow us, you will meet in all our stories.
